Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the digital competence of economics teachers in optimizing artificial intelligence platforms to support learning. Initial surveys identified that 85% of teachers had never used an artificial intelligence platform, 90% felt less confident, and only 5% understood the ethics of using it. The program is implemented over six months with a multi-component approach that integrates intensive workshops, guided practice, ongoing mentoring, and community building of practitioners. The data collection method uses a mixed approach through structured questionnaires, learning observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Results showed significant improvements in all dimensions of digital competence, with average scores increasing from 2.0 to 3.8 on a five-point scale. The transformation of teachers' attitudes is reflected in the decrease in the perception of artificial intelligence as a threat from 75% to 18%. Teachers produced 1,254 artificial intelligence-based learning products and formed a community of active practitioners with 847 posts. The program demonstrates that with comprehensive design and adequate support, teachers can develop advanced digital competencies. Practical implications emphasize the importance of a sustainable, contextual, and collaborative approach in teacher professional development for responsible technology integration.
