Semangat Taman Siswa dan Perlawanannya Terhadap Undang-Undang Sekolah Liar

Abstract

Taman Siswa as one of the private educational institutions was founded by Suwardi Suryaningrat or Ki Hadjar Dewantoro to promote national education. To crub its widespread activities the Dutch Colonial Government decreed an ordinance declaring Taman Siswa as illegal. The reaction to this fact did not come only from Suryadi and his foolowers but also from other national activitiess. Considering the political situation at that time which was becoming more critical the colonial government lifted the ordinance in 1933.
