Abstract

The study attempts to descriptively evaluate the implementation of School-based Quality Improvement Management in nine pilot Primary Schools in the Bolaang Mongondow Regency. Conducted in two months, this exploratory research was carried out in two phases. The first phase was in the form of documenting school profiles, proposals for School-based Quality Improvement Management, and reports on the implementation of School-based Quality Improvement Management. The second phase was data collection through interviews with respondents considered the key informants: school principals, teachers, and school committee members. The study demonstrates that with regard to five important issues, that is, transparency, cooperation, independence, accountability, and sustainability, the implementation of School-based Quality Improvement Management in nine Primary Schools in the Bolaang Mongondow Regency has been, to some extent, a success. Two points however, need immediate actions: 1) active involvement of School Supervisory Council particularly to establish and sustain transparency, and 2) openness of the school principals to new ideas, innovations and paradigms.
