Abstract

This paper reports the study of the effectiveness of the dialogic reading instruc- tion which was implemented in a primary school with low social economic background. The study employed quasi experiment research design. Forty students of the fourth grade participated in the study. They were assigned into two groups: control and experimental groups. The control group received traditional reading instruction, while the experimental group was treated with 8 meetings of dialogic reading instruction. A reading comprehension test was used to measure the effective- ness of the treatment. The results seem to favor the dialogic reading instruction.
